Janathan L. Allen

Esq., Partner in Allen Barron, Inc. and Senior Partner at Janathan L. Allen, APC

A Montana native, Ms. Allen brings international tax, accounting, finance knowledge to Allen Barron, Inc. and law expertise to Janathan L Allen, APC. Allen has worked with a diverse group of businesses, advising clients in legal, financial and tax arenas.

Beginning her career in the public accounting arena, she moved into the private sector as tax director for a biotech firm, Hybritech, Inc. She progressed to controller and CFO/Legal Counsel positions for a number of San Diego companies before becoming a partner in Allen Barron, Inc. and founding Janathan L Allen, APC.

She has led seminars throughout California on Tax-Advantaged Corporate Structures and Tax Minimization, and appeared as a panelist for Tech Coast Venture Network in a roundtable discussion for venture capital and angel financing.

Richard C. Barron

Partner

Richard Barron, whose roots are in nuclear science, is dedicated to assisting companies achieve new directions of growth and profitability.

Barron's career began in his native England as a junior scientist for a UK government research department, studying the technical functionality of nuclear partical accelerators. After emigrating to Canada, he became a member of the Bell Northern Research team that developed and implemented advanced digital telephone switching systems, before becoming a partner in Allen Barron, Inc.

In 1979, he began his climb to the top of executive management starting as Director of Manufacturing Operations for Northern Telecom. His corporate career reached its apex during tenure as President/CEO of numerous technology companies including General DataComm, Telenex Corporation, Inc., Bourns Electronics, and Valor Electronics (a publicly held company with over $120 million in revenues).

Allison Soares

Esq., Legal Associate, Janathan L. Allen, APC.

Ms. Soares was raised in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and also spent a year abroad at the University of Sheffield in northern England during that time. After graduation, Ms. Soares moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil to teach English to local business and medical professionals and later returned to San Diego where she worked as a Staff Accountant at Physician Management Group, Inc. Her adventurous nature soon took her to Miami, where she attended St. Thomas University School of Law. After her first year of law school, she enrolled in the joint degree program to obtain her M.B.A in Accounting. She also expanded on her previous accounting experience with several internships including positions at the United States Securities Exchange Commission, with the Honorable William M. Hoeveler, Senior United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida. She later interned with the United States Attorney’s Office where she applied her accounting skills in extensive preparation on a case, leading to her testimony as a summary witness for the U.S. Government. After law school, Ms. Soares and her husband relocated back to San Diego where she currently handles tax law, entity formation and contract law for Janathan L. Allen, APC.

Rachel Markovitz

Esq., Legal Associate, Janathan L. Allen, APC.

Ms. Markovitz was raised near Philadelphia, PA. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. During her college career, she spent a semester studying at City University in London, England. Upon college graduation, Ms. Markovitz moved to New York City and worked at McCann-Erickson, an advertising agency, as a media buyer. Two years later she relocated to Philadelphia where she attended Temple University School of Law. While studying law, Ms. Markovitz spent a summer studying international law in Rome, Italy. During law school, she worked at two civil litigation firms in Philadelphia, PA. She also volunteered as a mediator for child custody disputes. In 2004, she received her Juris Doctor degree and moved to San Diego California to pursue a Masters Degree in Taxation Law from the University of San Diego. Upon graduation, she worked as an associate attorney in a boutique estate and tax planning firm. Ms. Markovitz currently handles mergers and acquisitions, tax law, entity formation and contract law for Janathan L. Allen, APC.

David Barr

Senior Tax Manager

David Barr, CPA joins the tax and accounting team as our Senior Tax Manager.
Originally from Colorado, he joined the US Marine Corps after high school and served for 15 years in locations throughout the world. After leaving the Marines, David began working in financial services and pursued his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Upon completing his degree in 2006 at California State University, San Marcos, David began working for various CPA firms where he worked on all aspects of accounting and tax issues from bookkeeping and payroll to audits of small businesses to preparing a wide variety of tax returns.
On the weekends, you can find David riding his Harley along the coast.

Peggy Miller

Accounting Manager

Peggy Miller relocated to Southern California from the Central Coast in 1992. She brings 23 years of accounting experience and a B.S. Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Public Accounting to Allen Barron, Inc.
Peggy's early accounting specialization was establishing computerized accounting systems. In 1995 she became a QuickBooks Pro Advisor and from 1996 to 2006 Peggy operated her own outsource accounting firm specializing in accounting and cash flow systems for businesses less than 5 years old. Peggy’s primary purpose is to set up efficient, cost-effective accounting systems and procedures.
Peggy has extensive experience in commission, royalty and manufacturer's representatives accounting and can advise and assist clients in establishing paperless office and accounting systems.

Barbara Tanneberger

Staff Accountant

Barbara located to California from Texas. She brings with her 30+ years of experience in financial accounting and complex income tax preparation. Her previous experience includes 17 years working for a CPA, 5 years running her own business and 13 years working in the field of banking. She currently handles all our corporate clients' accounting and tax returns as well as individual tax preparation.

Noni Clayton

Administrative Director

Noni Clayton handles our internal and external business administration needs at Allen Barron, Inc. As our Administrative Director, her knowledge and expertise in office management and human resources is a valuable addition to our well-rounded team. Noni‘s background includes such diverse backgrounds as a paralegal, data analyst in the financial field, marketing assistant for a major petroleum company and a private investigator for one of the most notorious investigation firms in Hawaii. Noni enjoys spending time with her husband and son at their home in the San Pasqual Valley.

Kristen Adams

Receptionist and Administrative Assistant

Kristen Adams is our Receptionist and Administrative Assistant and is the friendly voice you hear when you call Allen Barron, Inc.  She is from Ramona, California, and is fully dedicated to assisting our clients with their individual needs and helping our team succeed and our organization grow.  During her free time Kristen enjoys visiting Disneyland, kayaking and spending time outdoors with friends and family.
